Kathy and her team have served in Tijuana since 1987 to bring a message of hope to downtrodden people in despair. In one “incarnational ministry,” a couple lives within the impoverished community they serve. They provide essential items so the children can attend school, cook meals for those who have limited food at home, and share the Gospel with entire families. Their team also works with “Esperanza,” a highly-reputed chain of drug and alcohol rehab centers throughout Mexico. As a logical next step to this Christ-centered ministry, they have now opened the “Esperanza School of Missions.” Men who have completed their rehabilitation program can receive classroom education in mission followed by internships all over Mexico.
Many of you know that God has walked Kathy through a long season of loss. Her beloved husband and ministry partner, Greg, died suddenly in 2018, four years after their son, Ian, had suffered a cerebral hemorrhage from a brain tumor. Kathy moved first to Indiana and much later, to Colorado, to care for her now chronically-ill son. Ian fought valiantly for eight years, but lost his earthly struggle in September, this year. The journey of caregiving drained much of Kathy’s resources. This year we are asking for a gift to help her recuperate in this important area, while she continues to fund the ministries described above.
Description
Kathy and her team have served in Tijuana since 1987 to bring a
message of hope to downtrodden people in despair.
In one “incarnational ministry,” a couple lives within the impoverished
community they serve. They provide essential items so the children can
attend school, cook meals for those who have limited food at home, and
share the Gospel with entire families.
Their team also works with “Esperanza,” a highly-reputed chain of
drug and alcohol rehab centers throughout Mexico. As a logical next step to
this Christ-centered ministry, they have now opened the “Esperanza School
of Missions.” Men who have completed their rehabilitation program can
receive classroom education in mission followed by internships all over
Mexico.
Many of you know that God has walked Kathy through a long season
of loss. Her beloved husband and ministry partner, Greg, died suddenly in
2018, four years after their son, Ian, had suffered a cerebral hemorrhage
from a brain tumor. Kathy moved first to Indiana and much later, to
Colorado, to care for her now chronically-ill son. Ian fought valiantly for
eight years, but lost his earthly struggle in September, this year. The
journey of caregiving drained much of Kathy’s resources. This year we are
asking for a gift to help her recuperate in this important area, while she
continues to fund the ministries described above.
